Paulo Roberto Falcao has been accused of sexual assault by a receptionist at the building where he lives in Santos.
Although he denies the accusation, he has resigned from his position as Santos‘ sports director.
According to the 26-year-old victim’s account, he allegedly brushed his genitals on her body, without her consent, on two occasions.
The establishment’s security cameras recorded the moment, as reported by the defense of the worker, who filed a complaint at the police station, where cases of domestic, family and sexual violence are investigated.
A cleaner reportedly witnessed the moment in which Falcao harassed the receptionist.
Her lawyer, Pamela Mendes, explained that Falcao repeated the same act on two different occasions.
While her client was sitting at her workstation, the executive approached and rubbed his genitals on the woman’s arm.
Falcao’s statement
The crime he faces is typified in the Brazilian Penal Code with penalties of between 1 and 5 years in prison.
After the complaint was made public, Falcao shared a statement on social media on Friday announcing his resignation from the Santos position he has held since November 2022.
“Out of respect for Santos FC‘s fans… I have decided to leave the position of sports coordinator, effective today,” Falcao said.
“My intention, first and foremost, is to protect the image of the institution.
“As for the accusation made today, which I was shocked to learn of from the media, I affirm it never happened.”

Paulo Roberto Falcao is a legendary name for Brazilian national team.
He shared the team with other legendary players such as Zico, Socrates, Junior, Leandro and Roberto Dinamite, with whom he played in the 1982 World Cup in Spain.
There, he was voted second best player of the tournament, behind Italy’s Paolo Rossi.
He also participated in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Brazil, with Tele Santana at the helm, was eliminated in the quarterfinals, bringing to an end a generation of players known for being stars without a trophy.
An elegant midfielder, he excelled at Internacional de Porto Alegre in the 1970s and won several titles, including three Brazilian championships.
He played for Roma between 1980 and 1985 and was nicknamed “King of Rome” for his decisive role in winning the Serie A in the 1982/1983 season after a 42 year drought for the Italian club.
He also won two Italian Cups in 1980/81 and 1983/84.
